We’re proud to announce that Helen Dimmick, co-director of Ainsworth Jewellers, has been appointed to the Board of the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF), further strengthening representation for the UK’s jewellery sector at a national level.
Helen joins the BATF Board as the representative of the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ), bringing with her more than 30 years of industry experience spanning retail, gemmology, education and consultancy.
The appointment recognises Helen’s longstanding commitment to championing excellence across the jewellery industry and supporting collaboration between the organisations that represent businesses throughout the UK.
On joining the BATF Board, Helen said:,

The British Allied Trades Federation represents a wide range of trade associations and businesses, working to support, strengthen and promote the industries it serves. With an experienced Board in place, BATF continues to drive collaboration and deliver value for its member associations and the wider sectors they represent.
Helen is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading jewellery professionals. An award-winning gemmologist, diamond grader and jewellery expert, she also specialises in consultancy, training and public speaking, combining an academic approach with decades of practical retail experience.
As co-director of Ainsworth Jewellers, alongside her husband and fifth-generation jeweller Phil Ainsworth, Helen helps lead one of the UK’s most established independent jewellers. The family business has been serving customers for more than 156 years and is renowned for its expertise, craftsmanship and exceptional customer service.
Beyond retail, Helen is passionate about developing future talent within the jewellery profession. She mentors university students, delivers specialist training and education, regularly provides expert commentary for media and is committed to sharing knowledge that helps raise standards across the industry.
Her dedication has also been recognised through several prestigious honours, including becoming a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, serving as a Guardian of the Sheffield Assay Office and, later this year, receiving the Freedom of the City of London.
